Objective: To develop a flexible website for the FROST8 conference, adapting the event to a hybrid model. The platform needed to provide a seamless, unified experience for both in-person attendees in Budapest and a global virtual audience.

The FROST conference is a significant event in the field of organic synthesis technology. In response to the global landscape of 2021, the organizers made the strategic decision to host FROST8 as a hybrid event. They required a digital platform that could not only serve as the central hub for information but also act as the bridge between the physical and virtual components of the conference, handling everything from registration to live-streamed content.
The Challenges & Our Solutions
Unifying the Hybrid Experience
The primary challenge was creating a single, coherent platform for two distinct audiences. We built a custom WordPress solution with a clear information hierarchy that immediately communicated the hybrid format. The site was integrated with virtual streaming services and a novel ePoster system, allowing virtual attendees to fully participate in the scientific discourse.
Dynamic Program Management
With a constantly evolving scientific program, the client needed an easy way to manage content. We provided an intuitive visual editor, empowering the FROST8 team to make real-time updates to the agenda, speaker lists, and posters without technical assistance.
Tiered Registration System
The hybrid model required a complex registration process with different fee structures. A robust WooCommerce integration was customized to handle multiple ticket tiers and secure international payments, ensuring a smooth and transparent registration experience for all attendees.
