Client: European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) / Active Hungary
Objective: To create a vibrant, informative, and bilingual digital platform for the 8th annual EuroVelo & Cycling Tourism Conference. The website needed to serve an international audience, manage a complex program, and facilitate a smooth, intelligent registration process with conditional options.
Overview
The EuroVelo & Cycling Tourism Conference is a key event for professionals in the cycling and tourism sectors. For its Hungarian edition, the client required a website that was both a functional tool and an inspiring showcase of the host region. The platform had to be welcoming and easy to navigate while handling complex event communications and a customized registration flow that could adapt to user selections in real-time.
The Challenges & Our Solutions
Multilingual International Audience
With attendees from over 30 countries, providing a seamless experience for both Hungarian and English-speaking users was critical. We built a true multilingual platform on a flexible WordPress foundation, allowing every piece of content to be expertly managed in both languages for a flawless user journey.
Immersive and Thematic Design
To capture the spirit of cycling and the beauty of Lake Balaton, we developed a fully custom and dynamic design. Key features included an immersive hero video, high-quality regional photography, and a modern, on-brand aesthetic to encourage exploration and drive registrations.
Implementing a Dynamic, Conditional Registration Flow
A key challenge was the complex registration process, which included optional bike tours requiring specific attendee data (e.g., chosen tour, frame type, height). Showing these fields to all users would create a cluttered and confusing experience. To solve this, we implemented a custom registration flow with conditional logic. This system dynamically revealed the additional fields only when a user selected a ticket type that included a bike tour, streamlining the journey and ensuring we captured all necessary logistical data without inconveniencing other attendees.
4. Challenge: Streamlining Attendee Registration (Historical Feature)
Key Technologies Used:
- Content Management System: WordPress
- E-Commerce: WooCommerce with Custom Forms
- Multilingual Management: Polylang
The Result
The EuroVelo conference website successfully served as both an inspiring promotional tool and a robust functional hub. Its strong, thematic design and intelligent, user-friendly registration process played a key role in engaging a global audience and contributing to the success of this sold-out international event.
